Signs of Literacy

The Signs of Literacy initiative is building a large scale data set to support research into historical literacy (1550-1800).

We are applying tools from data science, including feature extraction, handwritten text recognition, key word spotting and natural language programming.

We are collaborating with data scientists at Google subsidiary Kaggle and will be running several Signs of Literacy Kaggle competitions with Kaggle's support in 2019.
